Alfie's the dad as he leaves with a bang
Exclusive By Suzanne Kerins
EASTENDERS star Shane Richie will quit Albert Square in a sensational storyline... by having a lovechild with his wife's sister.
After finally giving in to temptation and bedding Little Mo (Kacey Ainsworth), the lovable pub landlord goes straight back to wife Kat.
And Little Mo - who has has kept the affair secret from partner Billy Mitchell - is distraught when she discovers she's having Alfie's baby.
An insider said: "Alfie is totally gobsmacked when he finds out Little Mo is pregnant. He just knows that he's the father. The pregnancy is going to be a complete nightmare for her as this will be the second time she'll be expecting a baby that's not Billy's.
"He struggled to accept Little Freddie as his own when she was raped by Graham and it's going to be just as painful for him second time around.
"The storyline is going to rock Albert Square and rip the Slater sisters apart. Alfie ends up leaving Walford in complete turmoil."
The storyline means the door will be left open for Alfie to return. The insider added: "Bosses don't want to lose Alfie. He's one of the most popular characters on the show. If he decides to return, there will be a big storyline waiting for him as the father of Little Mo's child."
Richie, 41, who recently proposed to his 26-year-old girlfriend Christie Goddard, is planning to return to his theatre roots this December in a stage version of Scrooge - and is hoping to take it to Broadway in New York.
He's also set to voice a Cockney rat in animated movie Flushed Away, alongside Kate Winslet, Sir Ian McKellen and X-Men star Hugh Jackman.
