Hiya guys,
I started writing this ages ago but forgot about it until now. It's based on my favourite film 'Ghost' and is a bit different to anything else I've written as it has a bit of a 'spiritual' theme to say the least! Anyway, I hope you'll like it and let me know what you think!
Part 1/Kat lay on the sofa with her head rested snuggly against Alfie’s chest, smiling contently as he absentmindedly played with her red silky hair. Their legs wound around one another’s and Alfie’s feet playfully rubbed against her own. The CD played softly in the background and the heavy rain outside crashed against the roof and windows making Kat feel safe in their cosy living room with her doting husband. Kat fiddled with the buttons on Alfie’s shirt, slipping her finger inside every so often and tickling his bare chest. “I hope we stay like this forever.” Kat lifted her head as she spoke and her face was instantly met by Alfie’s fingers as he swept a few stray stands of hair away from her eyes. “We will, forever and ever. I promise.” Kat closed her eyes and sighed with pleasure as Alfie’s soft lips met her forehead. Silence filled the room as the CD changed track and Kat’s face lit up when she realised what song was about to play. Getting up from Alfie’s arms she took his hand and pulled him to his feet. “Dance with me!” She exclaimed excitedly. “I love this song, c’mon!” Lonely rivers flow to the sea, to the sea To the open arms of the sea Lonely rivers sigh, wait for me, wait for me I'll be coming home, wait for me Alfie towered above Kat as they swayed together in the centre of the living room, holding her body close and gazing down at her dreamily with a gorgeous smile glued to his lips. With her right hand entwined with his and her other wrapped around his waist, Kat gazed up at him lovingly, moving her body against his own in time to the slow music. The tension between the couple was almost unbearable as they danced together, their breath tickling each other’s lips. Alfie dipped his head so it was resting perfectly on her shoulder. “Kathleen Slater, I am 100% mad about ya…” He whispered with his voice full of passion and lust. Kat smiled as her mind took her back to that moment in her hallway when he had first said those words to her. Little did she know back then that it wouldn’t be the last time he said it either. Alfie lifted his had just that bit higher so they were face to face once more. Leaning in slightly until their foreheads met, he rubbed his nose against hers affectionately and at the same time lifted her chin so their mouths met. He planted a soft kiss on her lips, barely touching her, just grazing them gently before pulling her that bit closer and capturing her bottom lip between his. The kiss was tender and meaningful; they took it slowly to begin with, breathing lightly into one another’s mouth, simply relishing the taste and texture of their lips. The love that they shared flowed between them freely, just as it always did. Oh my love, my darling I've hungered for your touch A long, lonely time And time goes by so slowly And time can do so much Are you still mine? I need your love I… oh I need your love God speed your love to me Alfie held the base of Kat’s head in his palm and pulled her closer towards him, drawing her tongue into his mouth as she parted her lips. Kat sighed heavily and melted into the kiss, allowing him to take control as he searched the far reaches of her mouth. Alfie’s muscular arm was wrapped around Kat’s petit waist, keeping her upright on her shaking legs. Kat was brought back to reality by another prod from Alfie’s demanding tongue and found the strength to lift her own to meet his and the fight for domination began. “Alfie…” Kat murmured against his lips whilst her hands left his and found their way up the length of his back, his neck, and into his mop of dark hair. In the background the music continued to play but the couple didn’t notice; all they could hear and all they could see were one another. Lonely rivers flow to the sea, to the sea To the open arms of the sea Lonely rivers sigh, wait for me, wait for me I'll be coming home, wait for me When the need for air became too much Alfie reluctantly pulled away. They both breathed heavily against one another’s skin in silence, their minds spinning with love and lust. Alfie spontaneously bent down and lifted Kat into his arms. “C’mon beautiful, lets go to bed.” Kat threw her arms around Alfie’s neck for support and giggled before placing a teasing kiss on the end of his nose. “Love you Alfie.” Alfie became lost in his wife’s vivacious, green eyes as he placed her down on their bed. Lying down next to her, he held her hands against his, running his fingers over her band of gold and pulling her closer to him. Kat watched mesmerized as a heart-warming smile appeared on those tempting lips of his. “Ditto.” Oh my love, my darling I've hungered for your touch A long, lonely time And time goes by so slowly And time can do so much Are you still mine? I need your love I… oh I need your love God speed your love to me

Thanks hun
Part 2/Kat giggled flirtatiously as she dragged Alfie back over towards the bar. Alfie had insisted in taking her out instead of sitting in the Vic like they usually did, not that he minded of course but it was nice to do something different, to go somewhere where no one knew them. That way they could spend the entire evening together without having to make conversation with various punters. “Get us another drink darling.” Kat said, turning around to face him, leaning back against the bar and licking her red lips. Alfie hesitated, almost freezing to the spot as those green eyes captivated him once more; the lights in the club making them sparkle even more than usual. Kat looked particularly beautiful tonight. She was wearing a short black dress with a slit up the side, revealing her tanned legs, and it was perfectly cut at the top to show off her impressive cleavage, giving him an eyeful but without giving away too much. Throughout the night Alfie had noticed guys eyeing her up from all directions, placing their bets on whether or not they could pull her. This made him feel very honoured knowing that he would be the only one taking her home that night. “Same again?” Kat nodded and linked her arm through his as he joined her at the bar. Alfie was looking just as stunning, with black trousers and his favourite blue and white shirt which he wore underneath his black leather jacket. After they had another drink in their hands they made their way over to the quietest corner of the club. ”So then gorgeous, how does this rate for a night out eh?” “Very good Mr Moon, I’m very impressed! Although…” “What?” “Maybe we should be heading back soon. I don’t want you to wear yourself out before the nights even started…” Kat looked at Alfie suggestively over the top of the glass as she took another sip of her drink. “C’mon then, drink up! You’re a bad influence on me Mrs. Moon…” “Not bad enough though eh?” Alfie laughed as Kat grabbed his hand and directed him through the crowds of people and towards the entrance. Both were slightly tipsy by now and it took them more than ten minutes to find the exit. Eventually the stumbled out into the cool night air. The street was lit up perfectly by the stars and the full moon, which shone brightly. Alfie watched as Kat smiled at the sight, he knew what she was thinking because he was thinking exactly the same. “Beautiful… just like you.” Kat laughed as Alfie began placing kiss after kiss down the length of her neck, nibbling on her skin as he went. “Alfie! Get off, you muppet!” “Can’t I kiss the woman I love?!” Alfie grinned and took her hand in his, swinging her arm back and forth with his as they took a slow walk back to the Square. “You do love me, don’t you Alfie?” “Do you really need to ask? You know I do, I tell you all the time, everyday!” “No you don’t, you say ‘ditto’ and that’s not the same!” “Force of habit… I do though, more than you’ll ever know.” “Sometimes I just need to hear it.” Kat paused and froze in her tracks. “Alfie look…” Alfie turned his attention to the other side of the Square where Kat gestured and groaned at the sight. “Great, that’s all we need.” “What if he says something? Lets not walk past him, c’mon Alfie lets go the other way.” Kat tugged at his arm slightly but Alfie pulled back. “No Kat, this is our home! We can’t live our lives with fear just in case we bump into that bully. Do you want him to think that we’re scared of him?” “Alfie… I am scared of him… you know what he’s capable of.” Kat let a small sob escape her throat as thoughts of that night came rushing back. “Hey, shhhh. It’s OK…” Alfie wrapped his arms around Kat’s body and held her closely, placing a kiss amongst her hair. “Andy Hunter won’t ever hurt you again. That’s what I’m here for, too look after you and keep you safe.” “Promise?” Alfie pulled away slightly and ever so gently lifted her chin with his fingers so she could see his face. “Kat, I promise to love and protect you forever. No matter what happens, I’ll never let him touch you, OK?” Kat nodded and released her grip from around Alfie’s waist slightly. Alfie pressed his lips against hers, massaging them every so softly, washing her fears away as he did so. Kat pulled away and buried her face in Alfie’s shirt, breathing in that gorgeous Alfie smell and taking comfort from his sweet embrace.

Part 3/A week later and Kat and Alfie were curled up happily on the Slater’s sofa with a content Freddie bouncing up and down between them. Charlie had invited them over for one of Big Mo’s special Sunday roasts and they had happily accepted. Alfie loved the whole atmosphere of the house, there was never a dull moment. When the whole family were together the noise was untrue, from Freddie screaming for his favourite stuffed toy which Stacey got endless amusement from teasing him with it, to the TV in the corner that always seemed to be turned up full blast whether anyone was actually watching it or not. A smile played on Alfie’s lips as he watched Kat play with Freddie, noticing all of those little qualities that would make her such a perfect Mother. Alfie ran his fingers over the little boys’ wispy blonde hair, which caused Freddie to squeal with excitement as he reached for Alfie’s fingers. He held his hand up in front of Freddie and chuckled as he hit his little hands against his. “Smack!” Freddie enthused, grinning up at Alfie, his eyes wide and dribble running down his chin. “Yeah that’s it, smack Alfie!” “No, don’t smack Alfie! Here, smack this instead.” Alfie said, handing Freddie his soft football. Freddie took the ball in his chubby little hands and looked at it for a few seconds before lifting it above his head and throwing it straight back at Alfie. “Aw look at Freddie bonding with his Uncle Alfie!” Little Mo said from the other side of the room. “You’re certainly a natural when it comes to babies!” The conversation quickly changed and Alfie shuffled in the chair so his head was resting comfortably on Kat’s shoulder. “Kat… seeing as we’re both so brilliant at this baby malarkey, how d’ya fancy making one of our own?” Alfie whispered his question so only Kat could her. “You being serious?” Kat asked, her face one of both shock and excitement. “Deadly serious, what’s stopping us?” Kat felt her insides tingle with excitement as Alfie’s words registered within her mind. That was all she had ever wanted, a perfect little family. “Alfie, there’s nothing I want more!” Alfie squeezed Kat’s hand and played with her wedding ring, twirling it around her slender finger. “It’ll be just you, me and our very own Baby Moon.” Kat lifted her head and fell into those blue eyes, while Alfie ran his thumb gently across her soft cheek. Brushing her hair aside, he placed a tender kiss between the base of her neck and her collarbone. “I’m so excited Alfie, are we really going to do this?” “You bet we are. In fact, we’ll have more than one, lots of little Moons running around!” “One at a time though, eh?” Kat said laughing. “Yeah, yeah of course.” Alfie gazed down at her dreamily and rubbed his nose against hers playfully. “Oi you lot, we’re out of wine. Which one of you lazy bones are gonna go out and get me a bottle?” Big Mo, shouted from the doorway. “I’ll go.” Alfie said, already puling on his coat. “Thanks Alfie. Here, better make that two bottles.” She said, handing him some money. “Dinner won’t be long.” “I’ll come with you…” Kat said just about to get up when Alfie gently pushed her back down. “No you won’t, it’s freezing out there! You stay here and I’ll be back before you know it.” Alfie leaned over and kissed her once more. Kat deepened it ever so slightly, their lips dancing together in perfect rhythm before pulling away and stroking her thumb over his lips. “OK, but be quick! I love you Alfie.” “Ditto Mrs. Moon...” He whispered ever so softly against her thumb. “Ditto.” Alfie flashed Kat one last gorgeous smile before heading out of the overcrowded living room. She sighed as the front door closed behind him. Even though he would only be gone for five minutes she was already missing him. “Come here trouble.” Kat said, lifting Freddie into her arms. “How d’ya fancy a little cousin to play with?” Freddie nodded enthusiastically and reached out for Kat’s strands of red hair. Kat smiled and lay back contently on the sofa. Everything was going to be perfect.

Part 4/
Alfie stuffed his hands inside the pockets of his jacket and picked up his pace, almost running to the shop, not wanting to waist a minute longer away from Kat more than he had to. The evening was cold and the wind was bitter as it blew through his hair, chilling his body and stinging his ears. Despite this, the sky was clear and the stars sparkled brightly like a million diamonds along with the moon.
Alfie lifted his head just in time to see Andy and two of his monkeys leaving the Vic. Andy whispered something to his largest friend before nodding towards Alfie.
“Knob.” Alfie muttered under his breath, giving Andy a smug grin before vanishing into the shop.
“Hello Alfie.”
“Evening darlin’, just these please.” Alfie said picking up a bunch of red roses and handing Yolande one of the notes that Mo had given him.
“Special occasion?”
“No, just a very special lady.”
“Aw, that’s so lovely. If only Patrick was as doting as you.”
“Here you go darlin’.” Alfie pulled a single rose away from the bunch and handed it to Yolande. “Just don’t tell Kat, OK?!”
“God Bless you Alfie Moon. See you.”
Yolande was touched by the kind smile that he gave her before leaving the shop. It was that sort of infectious smile that lead to a light at the end of a long, hard day.
Kat was still sat in the Slater’s living room, her legs spread across Alfie’s seat so that Stacey couldn’t jump into it as soon as she turned her head.
“Is it nearly ready Nan?”
“It was nearly ready twenty minutes ago! If Alfie don’t hurry up that chicken will be burnt to a frazzle!”
“We’ll have to start without him then…”
“No way! He won’t be long.”
“He’s probably stopped for a quickie down the pub.”
“Don’t be stupid Stace. Don’t serve dinner yet Nan; just wait a few more minutes. Alfie said he’d be back so he’ll be back.”
Seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into even more minutes as the family sat and waited. Everyone was getting agitated from hunger and wished Alfie would hurry up. Stacey stood up and with her hands on her hips and casually headed towards the kitchen.
“Oi, where d’ya think you’re going?”
“To carve my chicken! I’m starving…”
“Right, I’ll go and look for him.” As soon as Kat got up Stacey saw her chance and dived onto the sofa.
“Don’t forget to check the pub!” She said laughing, whilst grabbing the TV remote and beginning to flick through various channels.
“He won’t be in the flipping pub if he knows what’s good for him!”
“What you gonna do if he is?”
Kat glared at her cousin as she pulled on her coat.
“I’ll kill him.” The family laughed at Kat’s anger and she slammed the door behind her.
Running down the steps and into the street she almost jumped out of her skin as she went flying into Andy.
“Hey, watch it! You OK Kat?”
Kat glanced down at his hands that held her arms, his grip so tight and forceful, the complete opposite to Alfie. The anger she had for her husband very quickly melted away as fright took over and she suddenly wished he were by her side. Not so she could lay into him but so he could keep her safe from the man that they both despised so much.
“Um, yeah I’m fine…” Kat turned to leave but Andy kept his grip on her arm.
“What’s the rush? I haven’t seen you in ages, fancy a drink?”
“What? No! I’m late for dinner as it is so if you don’t mind…”
“Maybe I do mind. C’mon Kat…”
“No, Andy please just let me go…”
“I’m sure lover boy won’t begrudge you one tiny little drink…”
“No! I’ve asked you nicely but there’s obviously no getting through to you.” Kat held her face inches from his and shook her arm free from his grip. “Shove off Andy!”
Kat froze in her spot as a loud bang echoed through the Square, which was quickly followed by, what sounded like, a bottle smashing against the concrete. Kat dashed towards the Vic just in time to see a black car speed off and out of sight, revealing the unmistakable silhouette of her husband leaning against the walls in the shadows of the pub.
“Alfie…”
Kat ran towards him as fast as she could; dread filling her heart as she got closer and he came into focus. Alfie reached out his arm, his hand desperately aching for her to hold as he slipped down the wall until he was lying in a heap on the floor.
“Oh my God… Alfie, please… no!” Falling down by his side Kat grabbed onto his lifeless body and pulled him into her arms. “HELP! SOMBODY HELP US, PLEASE!” Kat screamed, tears spilling down her pale cheeks as she rocked Alfie’s body against hers. Turning round she searched for somebody, anybody to help her husband but the Square was empty. “It’s gonna be OK Alfie, you’ll be OK… please…” Kat buried her face in Alfie’s neck, tears streaming down her face as her skin rubbed gently against the tiny whiskers on his chin. His trademark leather jacket felt warm against her arms and the material squeaked ever so slightly as she rocked him.
"Please God... don't take Alfie... not my Alfie..."
Alfie squeezed her hand as tightly as he could before letting go and letting his hand fall by his side, into the liquid that covered the pavement; a mixture of red wine and his blood. In that instant Kat knew that their fairytale was over. Alfie Moon was dead.

Part 5/
Alfie circled his wife, staring down in disbelief at his lifeless body, watching as Kat cradled him in her arms, crying and screaming for help. He couldn’t understand; how could he be in two places at once? Maybe he was dreaming, yeah that was it; this all must be a horrible dream and he’d wake up any minute. He didn’t. Nothing changed, and five minutes later there were still two of him. A crowd had formed around Kat now, some crouching down beside her and offering their help and others standing back, shocked at the scene that they were witnessing.
Suddenly Alfie turned around to find a brilliant white light appear before him, so bright and captivating, drawing him closer like a moth to a flame. Behind the light shone a blinding spiral within an infinite vortex. The light seemed to suck everything into it, pulling at the entire Square and everyone within it inside as it became brighter and brighter. Alfie looked around and wondered why no one else was interested in this amazing experience, not one of them even turned their head. Alfie felt so relaxed and enchanted.
“Don’t leave me… I need you Alfie.”
Kat’s voice brought Alfie out of his trance and back to reality and he turned to see her still crying next to him in the middle of the street.
“Kat!” He called, terrified of what was happening to him. “Kat…”
Alfie got no response and glanced back at the light, it was still wishing for him to walk closer, just waiting to swallow him up. Alfie hesitated for a moment, and then in a painful but conscious decision turned his back on the light and walked towards Kat once more. In that instant the light disappeared behind him and he turned around in shock as a terrible whirring sound flooded his ears as the tunnel evaporated into the swirling vortex. It was gone and Alfie was left standing on the dimly lit pavement. For a moment Alfie couldn’t make his legs move and simply stood there in shock before another shrill sob from Kat brought him to his senses and he ran to her side.
“Kat…” He whispered nervously, kneeling down beside her. “It’s alright, I’m here Kat.”
Alfie reached out an arm to wrap around her shivering body but to his utter surprise he fell straight through her. He quickly scrambled back in shock and studied his hands in confusion. As he reached out for Kat’s hand again, this time he moved slower, praying that in seconds he would be able to feel her sweet touch. Once again his hand passed all the way through hers.
“Whoa… bloody hell.”
Alfie yelped with surprise as an arm cut through his middle and a tall figure blocked his view.
“Oi watch it mate!”
His words had no affect, not a single soul could hear him
Alfie quickly realised that the figure was Charlie.
He knelt down next to Kat and held her body close to his, kissing her head and trying to calm her as best he could.
Kat was suddenly pushed out of the way by two paramedics as they rushed to Alfie’s side; they lay him down on his back and began fumbling with his hands and neck.
“My name’s Mark and this is Joan. What happened?”
“Um… he was… someone… shot him…” Kat stuttered her words, tears still cascading down her face.
“OK, and what’s his name?”
“Alfie.” Charlie said, answering for his inconsolable daughter. “Alfie Moon.”
“Alfie, can you hear me Alfie? My names Mark and I’m a paramedic.”
The young paramedic pressed his fingers against Alfie’s neck and then his wrist, searching for a pulse that simply wasn’t there. Mark gave his colleague a nervous glance and shook his head. Kat sobbed and held onto Alfie’s hand tightly, rubbing it against her cheek and kissing it, trying to keep him warm.
“He’s dead isn’t he? Please do something… don’t let my Alfie die…”
“Miss, I can assure you that we are doing everything we can to help him but we’re having trouble finding a pulse. We need to get him into hospital straight away.”
Alfie watched in disbelief as his body was fastened to a stretcher and carried into the back of the ambulance, followed by Kat and Charlie. He managed to hurl himself in after them just before they closed the big white doors.
Charlie’s heart broke for his daughter as he watched her hand gently caressing Alfie’s forehead, running her fingers through his damp fringe as she did so.
“It’s OK Alfie… I won’t leave you…” Kat whispered her words quietly, clutching onto Alfie’s fingers with her other hand, her knuckles turning white with her tight grip. He looked so peaceful as hey lay there, as if he didn’t have a care in the world, just like he did as he slept beside her of a night. All she wanted was a small hand squeeze, or a flicker of his eyelashes, the smallest of movements would do, just to prove her worst nightmare wrong. However, he didn’t give her anything.
“Right Mrs Moon, we’re going to shock your husband to try and get his heart working again. Can you sit back please?”
Kat was reluctant to let go of Alfie’s hand but Charlie pulled her back and his fingers slipped through his.
“Everyone clear?” He asked, turning around to check Kat was sitting out of reach. “Charging, one, two three…”
Kat gasped and a fresh stream of tears fells from her eyes as the metal plates hit Alfie’s bare chest and his body jolted upwards violently. After another pulse check this process was repeated again and again until Kat couldn’t take any more.
“STOP IT!” She screamed, covering her ears with her hands to block out the awful sound of electricity that buzzed throughout the vehicle. “Just stop it! Leave him alone!”
“Kat its OK sweetheart.” Charlie put his arm around her shoulder but she instantly shrugged it away.
“It’s not OK! He’s dead! Can’t you see that?! Alfie’s dead and no amount of stupid electric shots are gonna bring him back!”
“Would you like me to abandon the resuscitation?” Mark asked. Deep down he knew Kat was right. Alfie had died long before they had even been called.
“No! Don’t give up, don’t you dare give up on me Kat! There’s still hope… I’m still here…”
Alfie’s words were meaningless and all he could do was watch as Kat nodded feebly and hung her head in shame.
Charlie put his arm around her shoulder once more and this time she didn’t protest. Instead she fell into hi embrace, crying hysterically into his fleece and grabbing at the material with her hands.
“Resus abandoned. Time of death, 6:52pm.”
