Thought I might try this out over here... let me know what you think
Three’s a crowd.
Part 1/
Alfie stared across at Little Mo as she playfully tickled Freddie’s bare tummy. He leaned on his elbow as he lay on the carpet. Without realising it an absent minded smile appeared on his lips. Lately he had been feeling things that he didn’t want to feel and thinking things that he shouldn’t be thinking. Mo was a nice enough person but he couldn’t work out why he was attracted to her, she certainly wasn’t the type that he would normally go for and she was the total opposite to Kat. Maybe that was the attraction?
Thoughts of Kat suddenly filled his mind; this wasn’t uncommon lately. No matter how many of his recent thoughts were of Mo ten times more were of Kat. Some were just simple thoughts… how she was, where she was, what she was doing, was she having fun? And if so, who with? Other times, often when he was lying in an empty bed, he would reminisce about times they had shared, together as a couple and apart as friends. Never did he let himself think about Andy or Roger. It wasn’t important anymore. Maybe if he had told himself that before then he would be sitting here with his wife instead of her sister.
Little Mo lifted Freddie up and placed him down in his cot, she soothingly stroked his forehead as he drifted off into a peaceful sleep. She turned to face a dreamy looking Alfie, a little surprised that he was staring at her. Her legs melted as she stared into his deep blue eyes… he was gorgeous. Although Mo was staring directly at Alfie, he didn’t even notice. His mind was elsewhere. The smile that touched his lips was no longer for Mo but for Kat.
Giving Freddie one last glance she walked across the room to where Alfie was lying on the floor and sat down next to him. Although he noticed her presence, he was too deep in thought to react. Mo smiled at his dazed expression… he must really like me, she thought to herself.
“Freddie’s down for the night.” She said quietly. “He shouldn’t wake again now…”
Alfie was suddenly awoken form his daydreams as he realised he was being spoken to.
“Sorry… what’s that darlin’?”
“Freddie’s asleep.”
“Oh right… that’s nice.” He said smiling.
Only a few inches separated the two friends now, if Mo got any closer she would be sitting on top of him. Alfie knew what was going to happen next – it was inevitable but for some strange reason he allowed it to happen. Their heads slowly tilted towards each other, Mo being the one to induce it. A niggling voice in the back of Alfie’s mind told him to stop but, as usual, his body was one step a head of his brain and before he knew it their lips had met.
